Throgmorton Community Hall
From Throgmorton Community Hall
Throgmorton Community hall was kindly donated to Dunkeswell and its residents by Mr Carl Throgmorton.
Grand opening!
More than a hundred Dunkeswell residents celebrated Throgmorton Community Hall's Grand Opening on Saturday. Stalwart fundraiser Rene Pym opened proceedings with a speech thanking developer Carl Throgmorton for providing such a wonderful resource to the village and paying tribute to community volunteers past and present. "We owe them a debt," she said. BBC Radio's Tony Beard, the Widdecombe Wag, entertained everyone with a lively speech peppered with jokes, and unveiled the dedication plaque, declaring the hall truly open.
Residents enjoyed a buffet lunch and glass of wine before perusing Dunkeswell Pre-School's Christmas Bazaar, the hall's very first booking.
Throgmorton Community Hall is now taking bookings for both private and community events. It's fully-licensed, seats 400, has a stage with changing areas, a well-equipped kitchen, and disabled toilet facilities. Call Tina on 01404 891 258.
